The History Behind the Shirt:
The Team's Origin: The NFL officially awarded Jacksonville an expansion franchise on November 30, 1993, to begin play in the 1995 season. This shirt was released as part of the inaugural merchandising push right after the team was announced.
The "Banned" Logo: The roaring jaguar graphic featured on this piece is highly coveted because it is the original, recalled logo. Shortly after its release, the luxury automaker Jaguar Cars threatened a trademark infringement lawsuit, claiming the design too closely resembled their classic leaping jaguar emblem. Because of this, the NFL and the franchise completely redesigned the logo before the team ever played a regular-season game, making these original 1993 pieces rare collector's items.
